The Inner Light may be the greatest episode of Star Trek ever produced. I remember the first time I saw it being completely blown every time they came back from a commercial and Picard had aged another 10-15 years. I was like WTF?!?!!!

...they were adolescents and they were just touched.
his writing is eerily reminiscent of jw apologists.. .

I saw this in the news, this Donohue guy sounds despicable.
Its infuriating to see how they can minimize and condone truly vile and abhorrent acts, and somehow paint the perpetrators as victims!

so the society have a hedge fund, some(50%) shares in a usa company who specsialise in weapons delivery systems , has a shares portfolio that includes cigerettes.it buys up real estate in one of the worlds most lucerative locations ny,uses free labour to refurbish these properties along with its tax free status and then sells them on at a profit.it further extends it real estate portfolio by lending money at intrest ,for the building of more kh, again built with free labour and tax breaks, which are never owned by the cong,s who built them, but belong wts.
i am not an economist, though i would be hard pressed to come up with a better economic model than this, also it purports to be politically nuetral, so hopes to operate globally without restrictions, infact the (workers) have to pay the society ,by way of mag sales and donations, in order to give their free labour, no trade union protection or minimum wage.
g--gle, p--si,ya-oo, micro---t, would kill to have these advantages in the market place..

For the last time,
local congregations hold the deed to their Kingdom Hall, not the Watchtower Society!!
Posting untrue allegations just makes ex-JWs look either misinformed or intentionally deceptive.

Back in the day I made some awesome laminated bookmarks with the book study schedule printed on them, I could've been selling them instead of just handing them out to everyone in the book study group!

i rarely look at any wt publications anymore, but under watching the world, april 2011 awake quotes a newspaper article that blames the covering of sexual abuse on the misguided loyalty to the absolute authority of the catholic church.
i couldn't help thinking of the many cases of child abuse amongst jws that have been swept under the rug for the exact same reason - the absolute authority of the fds!
they have no shame pointing their finger at others when in fact they are as bad...if not worse in mistreating the victims of abuse.
They still have the nerve to print stuff condemning the Catholics over their sex abuse scandal???? Unbelievable!!

this is the jw-media.org official explanation of why witnesses refuse blood transfusions.
it strikes me as being a little weak in its explanation.
''our view of medical care.
Since the Bible makes no clear statement about the use of minor blood fractions or the immediate reinfusion of a patient's own blood during surgery, a medical process known as blood salvaging, the use of such treatments is a matter of personal choice.
So if these are a matter of personal choice, other uses of blood are not a personal choice? Witnesses have to do as the Watchtower commands? I think that's what they are saying here.

1943-44 milton henschel historical documents.
today i uploaded some historical documents that researchers might find helpful.
these documents show milton henschel at 23 years of age.
Milton Henschel was President of the Watchtower Society from December 30, 1992 until his death on March 22, 2003.
Not to be nit picky, but this is not correct. Henshel resigned as President of the Society back in 2000.

i know the anointed never get consulted.
but is it true that the governing body has modified the definition of the faithful and discreet slave to exclusively apply to themselves and to not include the thousands of other anointed..
the GB are also the executive directors of the Watchtower Publishing Corporation.
Uh, no they're not, they all resigned as Corporation executives back in 2000. I believe the current president of the Watch Tower Society is Don Adams, not a GB member.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1353703/double-glazing-firm-knocking-door-exasperated-homeowner-landmark-ruling.html.
this is a man who had cold callers coming to his home.
at first nothing could be legaly done about it, but now it can and house holders now have a legal right to refuse cold callers coming to their home and by law this must be obeyed.. i wonder what impact this will have on the jw's and also their policy of calling once a year even if they have been told not to??
The door-to-door work, while once a major part of being a JW, is now a very minor aspect of what it is to be a witness. Its an exercise in futility, if it goes away it will not change anything. They will find some other ways to "count some time" that will be just as ineffective and pointless but will make them feel like they are "preachers".

2011 yearbook - "tracing all things with accuracy", p.9-13.
jesus said that the faithful slave would be discreet in giving the domestics "their food at the proper time.
" christ thus indicated that those who dispense this "food" would be conscientious, prudent, and discerning in providing spiritual food for the household of faith.-matt.
Wow this article is so full of mistakes, its like shooting fish in a barrel.
How about the life stories where a witness relates how he was first contacted by the Bible Students in the very early 1900s and was told by the Bible Students that Jesus presence had begun in 1914? It doesn't take much "research" to know that up until the 30s they taught that Jesus' invisble presence began in 1874.
I predict this thread will go on for dozens of pages.
